My Name is Paris

One of the world's trashiest celebrities is going to star in one of the world's trashiest comedies.

Tabloid darling and wannabe actress Paris Hilton is set to guest star as herself in an upcoming instalment of My Name is Earl, US network NBC has announced.

In the episode, titled I Won't Die With A Little Help From My Friends, gold-hearted redneck Earl (Jason Lee) falls unconscious with a fever and has an elaborate dream featuring people from the outside world - one of whom is Paris.

"When we wrote the role of Paris Hilton in the script, we weren't exactly sure who to go with for the role," quipped Earl creator Greg Garcia. "But after an exhausting search we finally settled on a relatively unknown actress by the name of Paris Hilton. I can't wait to see what she does with the role and I can't wait for America to discover her."

The hour-long episode, slated to air in the US on April 3, is the first since My Name is Earl went off the air earlier this year due to the writers' strike.

Hilton displayed her acting talents in the recent box-office bomb The Hottie and the Nottie, and in the upcoming musical Repo! The Genetic Opera.
