Big Bang Theory star heads to Broadway
Jim Parsons as Sheldon
Jim Parsons, the actor better known as The Big Bang Theory's uber-nerd Sheldon Cooper, has announced that he's going to star in a Broadway play in 2012.

Parsons — who, by the way, is almost 40, even though he looks about 12 years old — will appear in a production of Harvey, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Mary Chase about a man who imagines he has a six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit friend.

Parsons has won two Emmy Awards playing the eccentric Sheldon, so playing another eccentric character shouldn't be a problem for him.

Unfortunately the actor probably won't be adding a Tony Award to his Emmy collection — the timing of the play means it's unlikely he'll be eligible for the coveted theatre award.

Harvey's limited season is due to kick off in mid-June and run through to early August, during The Big Bang Theory's summer hiatus — meaning Parsons won't have to take much time out from the sitcom to star in the play.
