Is Facebook bullying the price of reality TV fame?

Facebook's hot new trend: bullying reality TV stars
Josh and Jenna, Jack, and Dani — all victims of Facebook bullying
Is there some weirdo planetary alignment thing happening right now that's making reality TV audiences really, really angry with reality TV stars?

It seems like all anyone's been doing on Facebook in the last few weeks is bullying reality TV stars: those targeted include Josh and Jenna from The Block, Australia's Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen, and Masterchef contestant Dani.

But this isn't a new phenomenon — check out our gallery for more reality TV stars who've been targeted by viewers in our slideshow.

So what's the cause of all this hate? Do reality TV viewers just need to calm down and remember that it's just a TV show — and that these are real actual human beings they're being mean to, not fictional characters? Or do reality TV contestants just need to accept that social-media bullying is just the price of fame nowadays — and that these so-called "death threats" are just idle ways for fans to blow off steam?
