In a similar stunt to Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure of 2010, Ellen announced today that her entire audience would be given a free holiday Down Under.
"So, I am actually for the first time in my life going to Australia,” Ellen said after the show. “I’m going in March and I’m going to shoot a bunch of stuff in Melbourne and Sydney. We’re going to do tape pieces and meet the fans and hang out."
As part of a promotion between Australian airline Qantas and vitamin company Swisse, each audience member gets a ticket to Sydney or Melbourne, good for any date within the next year. The incredible surprise also includes six nights' accommodation at a four-star hotel.
Nicole Kidman, Swisse's global brand ambassador, was on hand to help Ellen deliver the good news about the Australian trip.
However, unlike Oprah, Ellen will not be filming a live taping of her show, and she will not be travelling with fans.
Still, her fans were over the moon to win a free tip, and shared their excitement on social media (see below pic). Ellen is expected to land in Australia in March - perhaps in time for Mardia Gras. Watch those airports!
