Demi Lovato isn't the only celebrity leaving the X Factor USA fold. Britney Spears has announced that she won't be returning to the judge's chair, despite coaching last season's fan-favourite (and runner-up), Carly Rose Sonenclar.
"She has made the decision that she won't be returning," a source close to Britters told People. "She wants to concentrate on her music."
Britney is currently ramping up production on her eighth studio album.
Britney, 31, joins coaches LA Reid and Demi Lovato in exiting the popular reality show. It's gonna be a little on the lonesome side for sole remaining judgeSimon Cowell between seasons.
However, there are rumours circulating that Simon Cowell himself may be behind Britney's dismissal, with Brit leaving before Simon could give her the chop.
A source told Us Weekly that Simon "wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney", referring to Brit's very public meltdowns.
While "boring" Britney only lasted a single season, she felt it helped boost her confidence.
"It's no secret I'm a shy person," she said. "I feel doing this show over the past year has allowed me to come out of my shell a lot more. Everyone on the show has been amazing and made me feel really comfortable."
At this stage, replacement hosts have not been announced.
