Ready for more reality television? Seven Network are banking on a "yes", after announcing a new TV series, Formal Wars, hosted by Home and Away alumni Rhiannon Fish and Samara Weaving.
The series, which is surely going to play up teen-girl body anxieties across the nation, centres on parents picking their daughters' formal attire. Naturally, conflicts will arise from less-fashionable seniors taking charge.
Formal Wars hopes to put a new spin on the events-and-frocks-obsessed television bracket. The potential for ad revenue is obvious, with a booming $3 billion events market in Seven's crosshairs.
"The school formal is rapidly becoming the biggest day in a teenager's life, so the reactions when we tell them their parents are in control have been priceless," explains Brad Lyons, Seven's head of production.
We can already see the tears and tantrums. Excellent.
