'It's really overwhelming': Big Brother's Josh thanks well-wishers after brother's tragic death

Less than a week after choosing to leave the Big Brother House, Josh has thanked fans for the outpouring of support he has received since the sudden death of his brother Toby.

"It's really overwhelming and I'm so thankful everybody for their support," Josh told TheFIX.

Josh spent Wednesday night outside the House with his family, and it was then that he decided to exit the competition and focus on supporting his family. When news broke on Thursday, Josh was inundated with thousands of messages of support on Facebook.

"Obviously, when you're in the house you have absolutely no idea what's going on in the outside world and to come out to all of that is just great," he said.

It was a tragic end to what was a memorable experience in the House, one that saw him make a new lifelong friend in Michael, and embark on a very public romance with Ava.

"As clichéd as it sounds, Mikey and I just got each other, we clicked straight away. We had very similar sense of humour, we're into the same music, and it's just so easy to be friends with Mikey. It's a friendship I'm going to have for life," Josh said.

"He's my pick to win, for sure."

When we spoke to Ava after her eviction two weeks ago, she said their relationship caught them "both by surprise". It was something that came very naturally to them both.

"I wasn't really thinking, I was just acting, it all came very easily to me," Josh said.

"I'd probably be lying if I said that the cameras didn't cross my mind at some point, but really, I'm not concerned by anything that anybody's going to say or has said about us so far."

He and Ava are speaking regularly, but Josh isn't quite sure what the future holds for them.

"We'll see how we go," he said. "I'm just trying to get through this period of time and see what happens from there."

As Josh settles back into life outside the Big Brother House, we wondered if there were any housemates he was glad he'd never have to live with again.

"There are a few," he said. "One in particular, I'm not upset that I don't have to listen to Estelle waffle on anymore."

"Let's just leave it at that," he added with a laugh.
