How to be a good boy band: Ronan Keating's tips for X Factor One Direction wannabes

The X Factor Australia judge Ronan Keating has made no bones about trying to find the next One Direction on the current season of the hit talent show.

TheFIX's Kylie Speer got the chance to chat candidly with Ronan about his future plans for his team of boy bands, The Collective, What About Tonight and Fourtunate.

"All my acts are really good, I'm really proud of them," Ronan told us.

But it's The Collective that everyone's buzzing about. Ronan called their performance of Jessie J 's 'Domino' "the best X Factor performance anywhere in the world" — can they do it again on Monday night's show?

"I've got a crazy song for them next week, people are not gonna expect it at all," he said.

"But we have to think outside the box, these guys are really talented and good and they can handle it."

It's not an easy job being a member of a boy band, and no-one knows this better than Ronan himself. Celebrating his 20th anniversary with Boyzone, and having managed Westlife, Ronan shares his tips with us about what it takes to survive the mania.

Watch our full interview above to hear his tips, the details on his new pop-tastic album Fires, and whether or not he'd ever leave The X Factor for The Voice.

Fires is out now.
