David Duchovny denies he's shacked up with <i>X-Files</i> co-star Gillian Anderson

Gillian Anderson has split from her partner of six years Mark Griffiths so naturally she's jumped straight into the arms of former X-Files co-star David Duchovny.

Or so fans of the '90s sci-fi hit would hope.

But David's rep has swiftly denied rumours he and Gillian, 43, have smuggled their burgeoning romance into a shared LA pad, as gossip website Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported on Wednesday.

Well, no not really, but we couldn't resist.

The rep said simply, "It is not true," after the website quoted a source saying the two had moved in together.

"David and Gillian have been in a serious relationship for some time now and she and her children are shacking up with [him]," said the source.

With David, 52, announcing his split from wife Tea Leoni in 2011, the thought of both former co-stars being single is a bit overwhelming.

Their on-screen chemistry on The X-Files from '93 to '02 was undeniable, with fans hoping the star-crossed, never-quite-a-couple characters Scully and Mulder would hook up in real life (see sexy mag covers below!).

Gillian has previously admitted to being in a long-term relationship with a woman.

She and her ex Mark never married but share custody of their two kids together — Oscar, 5 and Felix, 3.
