Watch: Sneak peek of The Shire is as trashtastic as you'd expect

If your brain didn't ooze out your ears already from watching Lara Bingle's reality show, The Shire looks like it could at least be good for a laugh. Unless you're actually from the Shire, that is.

Australia's answer to Jersey Shore appears to deliver everything you'd expect — surfie dudes with Southern Cross tatts demonstrating mateship through an underarm-waxing drinking game, and Tan Mom-orange girls debating the merits of beauty versus brains as they wax each other's bikini lines. (Note: Waxing = ratings.)

Also of note: A cast member called 'Vernessa'.

"No actors, no scripts, just the drama of our lives…" says the promo.

We'll wait and see about the "no script" claim, but yes, we'll admit, as lovers of trash TV we're kind of intrigued.

The Shire premieres Monday, July 16 at 8pm on Network Ten.
